Honorary Fellow at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, Durham University. He is the author of several academic articles on the use of soft power as a tool of power competition in international relations. He is also the author of Soft Power Competition Between Russia and the West: Contesting Georgian National Identity, 1991–2024.
